The skin has proteins between its different layers that act as a glue, making it resistant to bumps and friction. People with Epidermolysis Bullosa, commonly known as Butterfly Skin, lack some of these essential proteins, which is why they must bandage their bodies almost daily. These painful treatments, which can take anywhere from one to four hours, are necessary to protect the wounds and blisters caused by even the slightest touch.
