What is IGARE?
IGARE is a challenge that involves completing the three Grand Tours of road cycling in a self-sufficient format. Throughout 2025, coinciding with the official dates of the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and La Vuelta a España, I will follow the same route as the professional cyclists, including the transfers between stages.
All of this will be done using only the bicycle as a sustainable means of transportation.

Raising Awareness for Rare Diseases
This challenge aims to raise awareness of one of the many rare diseases that exist: Epidermolysis Bullosa, commonly known as “Butterfly Skin”. It is a rare genetic disease, currently without a cure, that causes extreme skin fragility.
This is the fifth consecutive year that I have organized charitable initiatives in support of the DEBRA Butterfly Skin association. This organization provides assistance to affected families through a specialized team of nurses, social workers, and psychologists. Additionally, they actively contribute to research efforts to find a cure and improve the quality of life for those living with this condition.
For this reason, beyond raising awareness, we also raise funds for DEBRA Butterfly Skin through a crowdfunding campaign on the “Mi grano de arena” platform:
Where does the name of the challenge come from?
‘Igare’ is a word from Rwanda, a country that I hold close to my heart. In Kinyarwanda, one of its official languages, “igare” means bicycle.

It’s much more than just a means of transport—it’s my companion, my refuge, my therapy, my support, and my connection to the world. Thanks to it, I’ve had the chance to travel through many countries, discover breathtaking landscapes, and meet incredible people.
